So you want more information on METROCON's newest contest, the METROCON Illustration Contest? You've come to the right place! The METROCON Illustration Contest is a contest for the myriad digital artists amongst our fans. Below, you'll see images - one of each mascot! Using these as your guide, you are to do your OWN ORIGINAL DESIGN for EACH Mascot! Entrants will submit their four images through MyConsOnline. Winners will be chosen based on quality, design, creativity, and accuracy. Put your own spin on our METROCON Mascots, and have a chance to be immortalized in METROCON history by having your artwork featured on our print materials! ENTRIES ARE DUE JUNE 1st!
 
 
 

Submission Rules:
 

Please read all the rules carefully before entering. 
 

• You may only submit one (1) set of four (4) images - one image per mascot. Please upload them separately as individual entries.
   
  

• You must make an account with My Cons Online and then upload your file in the Contest Uploads section for METROCON 2012.
   
  

• When filling out the image upload form, please include a description of the image, including inspiration, concept, reason behind decisions made, etc.
   
  

• Image formats that will be accepted are listed above. No other types will be accepted.
   
  

• You MAY NOT send in your images to us in the mail.
   
  

• All illustrations MUST be PG-13. Those we deem are not will be disqualified.
   
  

• You will be notified if you are selected as a winner in Mid- to Late May.
   
  

• If you have any questions about your artwork, please email METROCON.HOVR.AlexCraddock@gmail.com. If it seems questionable, it probably means it is, and you should avoid it.
   
  

• METROCON reserves the right to ask for any changes to the artwork if your artwork is chosen as winner.
   
  

• Winners will be chosen as follows - a GRAND PRIZE WINNER will be chosen based on the COMPLETE set of all four (4) images. The Grand Prize Winner will have the best overall set of four mascots based on the judges' opinion of the above criteria; a runner-up will be chosen for EACH INDIVIDUAL MASCOT CHARACTER. I.E., one person's set of four will be chosen as the Grand Prize Winner, and four runner-ups will be chosen (one for each Mascot)
   
  

• By submitting your artwork, you relinquish all rights to use the artwork to Team Dynamite Productions LLC. You retain the right to use it for personal reasons (portfolio, etc.) but the artwork cannot be entered into any other contest or professional media without the express written consent of Team Dynamite Productions LLC.
   
  

• Submissions must be 300 DPI, Full Color, Print Quality images, or they will be disqualified.
   
  

• The Grand Prize Winner will receive 2 FREE VIP PASSES to METROCON the FOLLOWING YEAR (example: you are chosen as Grand Prize Winner for METROCON 2012, you will receive 2 FREE VIP PASSES to METROCON 2013); the Grand Prize Winner and the Runners Up will each receive a $50 Gift Card to PearlPaint.com, a top online retailer for art supplies. Prizes can be claimed at registration. Photo ID will be required. Prizes left unclaimed at the close of registration may be picked up when registration opens the following day; if unclaimed by 1:00 PM on Sunday, your prize will be considered forfeit.
   
  

FAQ:
 
 

So if I win, my artwork gets featured on EVERYTHING METROCON PRINTS?
 

NO. Both the Grand Prize Winner and the Runners Up will have their artwork featured on SOME of the METROCON printed material, to be determined by the METROCON staff. This could include and is not limited to the convention guidebook, the website, posters, fliers, etc.
 
 
 

Will my artwork be featured on the T-Shirts or Badges?
 

No - the artwork for the badges, T-Shirts, etc. (the "Official METROCON Annual Artwork") is traditionally done by one of our special guest artists (Steve Bennet, Doug Smith, David Stanworth, etc.) If this changes, however, we promise we'll let you know!
 
 
 

So I can do a hundred submissions, and you guys will pick the best, right?
 

As stated above - you may submit ONE image for EACH MASCOT CHARACTER. If you submit multiple entries, we will base our judging on the final submission received.
 
 
 

So I get to design my own four mascots, right?
 

All artwork should be based on the original draft of the MASCOT ARTWORK ABOVE. Do not alter costumes, props, features, etc. Please feel free to add your own artistic flair with poses, facial expressions, art style, etc., but remember - if your artwork doesn't LOOK like the METROCON Mascots once everything is said and done, you've missed the mark, and should revisit the image before you submit.
 
 
 

What if I don't agree with the judges decisions?
 

Apologies, but it is a contest after all. We at METROCON do our best to be fair and unbiased in all judging situations, and can assure that we will do the same for this. METROCON Staff members are not eligible for this competition.
