METROCON 2010 Mascot Auditions
|

 |
Do you have what it takes to represent the
largest anime convention in Florida? Do you have charisma and a desire to
entertain thousands of people?
We are looking for two guys and two girls to be Mascots for the
METROCON 2010. So, if you think you've got what we are looking for, read on,
check the rules, and get ready!
The tryouts will take place
Saturday, February 20, 2010 at
the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa, Florida.

MASCOT
TRYOUT INFORMATION: |

You must sign a
non-disclosure agreement for your participation in this event.
-
You must be 18
years of age at auditions to participate.
-
You WILL
be required to create and perform in skits on stage and weekend long events at
METROCON 2010.
-
You must be able
to attend practices in Tampa, FL on any of the following dates:

*Not all listed
dates will be used for rehearsals. Dates and times for mascot-related
rehearsals and meetings will be chosen from these dates based on the
availability of all mascots and the coordinator. Dates and times will
be communicated via email in advance. All scheduled dates in these
emails are mandatory.

TRYOUT TIME/LOCATION: |
You must appear for the
tryouts on the following date:
Saturday, February 20, 2010.
Orientation/Tryouts start promptly at 9 am.
Please arrive at the starting time. After your interview has been completed,
you may leave the park.
IMPORTANT: You must sit through the entire orientation. If you arrive
after orientation you will not be allowed to participate in Mascot tryouts!

Winners will be announced on the website the
week following the competition. Everyone trying out will be notified of
the winners via email within one week of auditions.

TRYOUT INFORMATION: |
If you would like to tryout to be a
METROCON Mascot, please take note of the following:
You must sign a non-disclosure agreement for your participation in this event.
RULES:

You must attend the METROCON 2010
Mascot Orientation to be interviewed.

You must currently be 18 to participate.
-
You may be female or male.
-
For the interview part of the tryout, please
wear clothes that you would wear to a business interview (no formalwear, just
nice clothes). Costumes will NOT be worn during the interview process or
at any time during the audition process.

Your schedule must be flexible enough so that
with proper notice you can attend METROCON -related functions and required
event rehearsals.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU: |
-
You will need to complete a packet to bring with
you to auditions, sealed with a staple (no paperclips, please). It will
contain the following:
-
A completely filled out METROCON 2010 - Mascot Tryout
entry form.
NOTE: Extra forms at tryouts will NOT be provided.

IMPORTANT:
You
MUST attach a normal, out of
costume picture of yourself to your form.
Make sure all forms and pictures are stapled together
(no paperclips please).

You MUST supply concept art for two costumes.
One design of an original
Samurai costume and one design of an original Ninja costume that you would
create or have created to wear for METROCON. These will be in color
and printed on 8.5x11" paper. YOU WILL NOT GET THIS BACK!

Attach one out-of
costume photo of yourself.

Optional: Additional photos of prior costuming experience.
-
Optional: Resume of any prior performance or other relevant
experience.
Please wear
business-appropriate attire to the audition. NO costumes will be
permitted. This audition process contains a business-style interview.
Dress accordingly.
All those
trying-out will have an informal headshot photo taken during registration for
reference and use on the METROCON website when mascots are announced.

CONTESTANT CONSIDERATIONS: |
All contestants will be interviewed by judges
and will be judged based partially on their appearance, personality and
responses to questions. Other considerations may also
be as follows:
- Appearance
- Personality
- Crowd presence
- Physical Fitness
METROCON
reserves the right to judge mascot entrants based on considerations not
contained within this document and as it sees fit. Contestant scores will
not be released to the contestant or the public. All judge’s decisions are
final.

PRIZES: |
- Each Mascot gets to be on all of the METROCON 2010
publicity materials.
(METROCON website, commercials, advertisements, photos, etc...)
- A VIP Pass to METROCON 2010 for the winners, as well as a VIP pass plus one VIP guest
ticket to METROCON 2011.

MASCOT DUTIES: |
Duties at METROCON
may include but are not limited to:
- Speaking in public, hosting events, awarding prizes, etc…
- Creating an original costume for the convention based on the theme presented
that year.
- Promoting METROCON at other conventions or events.
- Mascots MUST attend a photoshoot specifically for
publicity photos at a later date.
- Mascots MAY be required to attend other
METROCON promotional events.

PARTICIPATION IN METROCON: |
- Mascots may tryout for and enter any other show/event at
METROCON 2010. (Chess Match, The Fantasy Masquerade, etc..)
- Mascots may
host or participate in running panels at METROCON 2010 as long as it
doesn't interfere with their duties.
- Mascots are not allowed to compete in any contest in
regards to
METROCON 2010. (Costume, Cosplay, Anime Idol, online photo contests,
etc...)

CONDUCT: |
- Mascots are a representatives of METROCON prior to and during the
convention. Mascots are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and
professional manner of which METROCON would approve. This includes
participation in any advertising campaigns, photos, online forums, chat rooms,
blogs or when speaking about the convention and guests. Even if Mascots are
not acting in an official capacity, inappropriate
behavior will not be tolerated. Others still view them as representatives
of METROCON.
- Mascots may not abuse the privilege of being a Mascot for METROCON.
This includes but is not limited to using the position to give out free
tickets, access guests when it is outside their duties or helping friends skip
ahead in a line.
- Mascots should realize that their duties must always be their highest
priority and should take precedence over other activities (i.e.: attending a
panel, getting autographs from guests, sitting in artists' alley, etc.)

DISCLAIMER: |

If a mascot cannot fulfill their duties for any reason or misrepresents the convention
in any way, METROCON reserves the
right to choose a new mascot from the list of this year's contestants.
- As a representative of
METROCON, Mascots must follow all convention rules and considerations.
METROCON reserves the right to replace a Mascot who is in
violation of the rules and standards of practice.
- METROCON reserves the right to revoke a Mascot's lifetime pass
if the duties of the Mascot are not upheld or if
disciplinary action is needed.
