GREG AYRES |
| |
Voice Actor
Greg Ayres
is not your average voice actor. The once-“fanboy"-turned-VA
started working for ADV Films two years ago,
and in that time, managed to snag two of his
favorite roles in anime. He was thrilled to
voice the role of his favorite character Son
Goku in SAIYUKI, then just one year later
Kaworu Nagisa in the Director's Cut of NEON
GENESIS EVANGELION.
Other roles
include Touga in GRAVION, Bomb in BASTOF
SYNDROME, Yuya Asou in SUPERGALS!, Mannen in
PRETEAR and Shinji Kazama in FULL METAL
PANIC!. He can also be heard in other anime
titles such as THE LEGEND OF THE MYSTICAL
NINJA, STEEL ANGEL KURUMI, THOSE WHO HUNT
ELVES II, PANYO PANYO DiGi CHARAT, DRAGON
KNIGHT WHEELS OF TIME, OH SUPER MILK-CHAN
and AURA BATTLER DUNBINE.
We are proud
to welcome Greg back for his second
appearance at METROCON!
Greg’s
Message to METROCON Attendees:

KATIE BAIR |
| |
Artist (NINJA HIGH SCHOOL, OASIS DESTINY)
& Wig Designer
Whether
behind the drawing table, behind the
microphone, covered in costumes or covered
in wig hair, Katie Bair is truly a woman of
many talents. Besides being a full-time
manga artist and writer, she is the woman
behind Petting Zoo Wigs,
the Internet's premier cosplay wig design
studio.
Additionally, she is an educator, creating
helpful tutorials for both manga art and
wigcraft and helping up-and-coming artists
with hands-on mentoring. She is also highly
respected in the cosplay community, not only
for her incredible wig designing skills, but
for her costuming experience as well.
When she's
not working herself to death, Katie
occasionally gets the chance to entertain
her other passion: music. Many a karaoke
room has gone silent as she gives one of her
rare "a cappela" performances. It should be
no surprise as "Karaoke Kate" has been
singing since an early age and uses songs
from anime to aid in her Japanese language
studies.
Katie's
current published work includes NHS (NINJA
HIGH SCHOOL) and OASIS DESTINY (part of the
SHOUJO anthology), both from Antarctic
Press.
We are
excited to welcome Katie to METROCON
for her first-ever,
Florida
convention appearance!
Katie’s
Message to METROCON
Attendees:
Last time I
set foot in the state of my birth, I got in
a seven car pileup and was cursed by an old
gypsy woman because she didn't like my hat.
But did I let that discourage me from giving
Florida another chance? Of course not!
Well... ok, it has been like 14 years... and
that curse still hasn't worn off... but I'm
ready to give it another go this year at
METROCON! If you see me there, wish me luck!

ROBERT & EMILY DEJESUS |
| |
Co-Founders
Studio Capsule
Robert and Emily DeJesus are the founders of
Studio Capsule and are popular and frequent
guests at conventions nationwide.
An Indiana native and self-taught artist,
Robert was one of the pioneers of the
“Amerimanga” style of comic art and received
his first professional break when one of his
short stories was published in the Antarctic
Press (AP) MANGAZINE anthology. This led to
work on other AP properties and publications
including NINJA HIGH SCHOOL, NOT NINJA HIGH
SCHOOL, AGAIN and SB NINJA HIGH SCHOOL.
After four
years working with AP, he struck out on his
own and teamed up for projects with other
artists including Adam Warren for BUBBLEGUM
CRISIS and DIRTY PAIR, Phil Foglio for the
XXXENOPHILE card game and Steve Bennett for
a portfolio ‘zine. His work has also
attracted invitations from noted Japanese
artists including Kenichi Sonoda (GUNSMITH
CATS, RIDING BEAN) and KoKoMai (character
designer for Japan’s PlayStation, CRIME
CRACKERS) to do work for their own personal
doujinshi circles.
Robert’s
most recent and high-profile projects
include designing Banzai Chibi Chan, the
mascot for PLAYSTATION MAGAZINE: 100%
INDEPENDENT and two children’s books based
on the SPIDERMAN movie franchise, with even
more in the pipeline.
Robert and
his wife, Emily (who, by the way, conducts a
*mean* hair and wig panel), have started
their own company,
Studio Capsule, which will serve as the
launching point for their line of
underground doujinshi, animation, portfolios
and other sorts of memorabilia.
We are
pleased to welcome Robert and Emily to Tampa
Bay for their first METROCON appearance!
Robert and Emily’s
Message to METROCON

DON RUSH |
| |
ADR Director, ADV Films
IS&M dub director Don Rush returns to METROCON
for year two, this time with a few more strong
titles under his belt. It all started with NEO
RANGA. Then exploded with the mega-hit FULL
METAL PANIC! Next came the totally whacked-out
MAGICAL SHOPPING ARCADE ABENOBASHI. And most
recently, the highly anticipated AZUMANGA
DAIOH.
Still riding the AZUMANGA sugar high, Don is
now gearing up for his next top-secret
project. “Last time it was sugar,” says Don.
“Next time it’s gonna be blood – and lots of
it. Just what I needed.” (Insert evil laugh
here.)
We are pleased to welcome Don back to Tampa
for his second METROCON appearance!
Don’s Message to METROCON Attendees:
Hey, METROCON! Had a great time last year, and
I bet it’ll be even better this time. Thanks
for having me again! See ya there!

DAVID WILLIAMS |
| |
ADR Director/DVD Producer, ADV Films
David Williams is currently an ADR Director
for ADV Films as well as the DVD Producer,
voice on the Internet and keeper of the Suck
Bunny (in name only because the Bunny has a
will of his own). Shows he has directed
include, ANGELIC LAYER, PRETEAR, NAJICA, the
original NUKU NUKU OVAs, DIRTY PAIR and many
others. He's produced more DVDs than he can
remember and had more skin grafts due to
online flamewars than he wants to remember.
Being the evil company rep that he is, he's
often invited to anime conventions where he
can be seen wandering the con with his "What
would you do for a DVD badge?" giving out DVDs
to clever and amusing otaku. And those evil
roots go deep, having been an anime fan since
before there was an anime industry in the US
and with ADV from the beginning when his
living room was used as a production facility
for their first show, DEVIL HUNTER YOHKO.
We are excited to welcome David to METROCON
and his first-ever, Florida anime convention
appearance!
David’s Message to METROCON attendees:
Wow, after hearing about last year’s con from
Monica and Chris and all the others, I can't
wait for this year’s. The live commentaries
sound like a blast. |
